James A. Anderson

Practice Areas and Expertise

While attending Strum School of Law at the University of Denver, James worked full time for a public adjuster. This experience helped grow Jim’s interest in insurance litigation, claims handling procedures, and bad faith claims. While attending law school, James continued his love of trial practice, winning several outstanding advocate awards with the Student Trial Lawyers Association in his first year and winning outstanding advocate at Sturm’s premier mock trial competition, the Hoffman Cup, in his second year. He also was runner-up in the Dean’s Cup, a moot court competition that simulates a civil case from the client meeting to trial.

Because of his desire to promote mock trial, James participated in the Instructor’s practicum, where he not only furthered his education in trial practice but also coached the University of Denver’s undergraduate mock trial team. In his last year, James completed an externship with Wes Wollenweber, where he got experience in several areas of civil litigation and trial work. James graduated from Sturm in December of 2015, and passed the bar the following February.

After passing the bar, James worked in civil litigation working on bad faith claims and construction defects. He continues to be active in the Colorado Bar Association’s high school mock trial program, coaching D’Evelyn High School’s mock trial team. James is a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, Colorado Bar Association and Denver Bar Association. He is also an active volunteer for Sturm’s Trial Advocacy Department, and judges their competitions as often as he can.
